This BBC performance was filmed the following day after the Lockerbie Pan Am bombing. The Four Tops had booked on the Flight that was blown out of the sky over Scotland. They were forced to stay in London one more day by BBC to film this performance.

❤ My name is Jimmy Papa and in 1974 I was the luckiest kid on planet earth? My dad was The Four Tops booking agent. And 1974 I was in seventh grade. My dad pulled me out of school for a month to go on a tour with The Four Tops to Japan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines, a fun, fantastic experience, and these four gentlemen could not have been nicer. They are all four my heroes And I love all of them. I’m so proud of Duke writing this book. It’s awesome this interview and program and it’s great. I guess this is a station in Detroit. Duke just said this was in the 1990s At the completion of the tour of the far east the Four Tops bought me a set of top-of-the-line Sansui headphones I still have them in the box they came in. I’m recording this on March 20, Wednesday 2024. I’ve learned in Japan how to take care of the tops thousands of dollars wardrobe valet for the tops and so I worked with them on many occasions we did Soul Train Dick Clark’s, American bandstand, their album on ABC Dunhill Catfish I was in the studio when they were mixing the record and boy that was a thrill Lawrence Peyton man with perfect pitch Duke and Lawrence record I think in two days and it sounds great. I also worked for the tops in 1975. We did 31 nights in a row at Disneyland and I would ride down with one of the tops each night. They always stayed at the Beverly Hills Hilton. I would ride back with Levi one night Lawrence, Duke , or Obie. One night Michael Jackson and his family came out to see the tops at Disneyland. Believe it or not it was Michael’s first time to see the tops. I hung out with him for a couple hours we had Moon burger, in Tomorrowland. This was 1975 Michael Jackson was, not the Michael Jackson you probably remember. I think he was recognized maybe three times they had left Motown and they didn’t have a record deal I was there but she was about nine years old 10 maybe. In October of 2008 I produced a campaign commercial for Barack Obama starring the Four Tops we shot this in Jackpot Nevada the tops were playing there for the weekend and we shot during the day when the room was empty, and then we shot at night with the crowd I’ll post that commercial up on UA-cam so we remain friends and done business together since I was 13 years old you couldn’t meet for more humble and classy gentleman than The Four Tops. I hope you enjoyed a tiny bit of Four Tops history. with Backstage with Jimmy Papa.
